الشَّهَادَة
The Shahada
The first pillar — the gateway into Islam
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
"I testify that there is no god but Allah and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and messenger."
Quranic Evidence
شَهِدَ اللَّهُ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ وَأُولُو الْعِلْمِ قَائِمًا بِالْقِسْطِ
"Allah, the angels and those of knowledge testify that there is no god but Him, establishing justice."
فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنبِكَ
"So know that there is no god but Allah and seek forgiveness for your sin."
Hadith on Sincerity
مَنْ شَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ خَالِصًا مِنْ قَلْبِهِ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ
"Whoever testifies that there is no god but Allah, sincerely from the depths of his heart, will enter Paradise."
