✦ Summary

Yahya was born of a miracle — son of Zakariyya, very elderly, and a barren mother. Allah granted him wisdom from childhood. He is described in the Quran as Sayyed (master/lord), Hasur (chaste), and confirmer of the Word of Allah (Isa). He was martyred by King Herod according to tradition. The Quran addresses him with peace three times: at his birth, his death, and his resurrection.

Chapter 1 — Childhood Wisdom

Yahya received unique distinctions in the Quran: he was named before his birth (Maryam 19:7), and he is the only prophet of whom Allah says He granted him wisdom "as a child" (sibiyyan). The Quranic phrasing is striking: "O Yahya! Hold firmly to the Scripture." Allah gave him judgment and goodness from his youth, and purity of heart. This spiritual precocity is a sign that prophetic gifts are granted independently of age. The titles "Sayyed" (master, lord) and "Hasur" (chaste) were attributed to him during his lifetime — honorific titles that only Allah can legitimately confer.

📖 Quranic verse

﴾ يَا يَحْيَىٰ خُذِ الْكِتَابَ بِقُوَّةٍ ۖ وَآتَيْنَاهُ الْحُكْمَ صَبِيًّا ﴿

Yā Yaḥyā khudhī l-kitāba bi-quwwatin wa ātaynāhu l-ḥukma ṣabiyyā

🇫🇷 Ô Yahya ! Prends fermement le Livre — Nous lui accordâmes le jugement dès l'enfance

🇬🇧 O John! Take the Scripture with determination — and We gave him wisdom while still a boy

🌱Wisdom is not tied to age — Allah grants it to whom He wills, even to a child.
🔥Chastity and purity of heart are among the highest prophetic virtues.
💎The believer's death is not a defeat — the divine peace at the resurrection is the ultimate victory.
